Every NRL signing made by Super League sides for 2025 as Wigan Warriors make zero

There have been plenty of NRL signings made by Super League sides ahead of the 2025 season and we’ve assessed each one.

The NRL is viewed as the best rugby league competition in the world and given its scale, it’s incredibly hard to argue that (albeit two World Club Challenge losses in a row could make a case).

However, with it being such a dominant league it means that Super League sides often fish in that talent pool and this off-season has been no different with ten of the twelve Super League teams making NRL acquisitions.

By NRL recruit, we’re referring to players signed from an NRL club or their affiliated team in either the Queensland or New South Wales Cup. As a point of leniency, we’ve also counted PNG Hunters who do play in the Queensland Cup, but have no NRL affiliation barring their expected entry in 2027.

That means Super League clubs have signed 25 players from the NRL, their affiliated clubs and of course, PNG Hunters, so who has gone where? We’ve run through every team’s signings.

Every NRL signing made by Super League sides for 2025

Castleford Tigers (3) – Daejarn Asi, Zac Cini and Judah Rimbu*

As referenced, Rimbu has somewhat of an asterisk by his name with PNG Hunters an unaffiliated club, however, he is among the best in this list and starred for Papua New Guinea in Edwin Ipape’s absence recently. Asi and Cini arrive from Parramatta and will add playmaking and strike respectively.

Catalans Dragons (4) – Nick Cotric, Luke Keary, Tevita Pangai Junior and Elliott Whitehead

Steve McNamara’s side have pulled out the big guns with their recruitment as they land four NRL stars. Luke Keary is the major name but Super League fans will be more familiar with ex-England international Elliott Whitehead who returns to his former club. He’ll be joined in the pack by Tevita Pangai Junior, whilst Nick Cotric will play on the wing and help replace both Toms, Johnstone and Davies.

Huddersfield Giants (3) – Tom Burgess, Jacob Gagai and Zac Woolford

With quota spots still open, there could be more to come from Huddersfield but they’ve already made one of the biggest splash signings in Tom Burgess. Hooker Zac Woolford is the son of former coach Simon whilst Souths winner Jacob Gagai has been handed the number one shirt in a major move.

Hull FC (2) – Jordan Rapana and Aidan Sezer

The Black and Whites needed class if they were to avoid another dismal Super League season and Jordan Rapana emits that. The long-term Canberra star will play full-back and work alongside former Super League half Aidan Sezer who returns to the comp with much of the overhaul coming off-field.

Hull KR (1) – Jared Waerea-Hargreaves

Just the one NRL signing for Hull KR but it’s a big one, literally and figuratively. Enforcer Jared Waerea-Hargreaves arrives in Super League as arguably the most high-profile prop signing since Willie Mason. Hull KR will be hoping for a better result this time.

Leeds Rhinos (3) – Cooper Jenkins, Keenan Palasia and Maika Sivo

Two NRL players and one of the stars of the Q-Cup-winning Norths Devils arrive at Headingley with Ian Blease under a clear directive to improve the pack with Palasia and Jenkins. The signing of Sivo casts questions over how Ash Handley and Ryan Hall both fit in alongside the Fijian, something we’re excited to see.

Leigh Leopards (4) – David Armstrong, Ben Condon, Isaac Liu and Tesi Niu

Like Catalans, Leigh have splashed out and made four signings and they needed them after the exodus of stars such as Matt Moylan, John Asiata, Tom Amone, Kai O’Donnell and Ricky Leutele, as well as a handful of domestic exits. As such, they’ve signed exciting full-back David Armstrong, centre Tesi Niu, loose forward Isaac Liu and second-rower Ben Condon. Incredibly, Leigh still have a quota spot available should they wish to replace Moylan in the halves.

Salford Red Devils (0)

Salford have yet to make an NRL signing and with reported financial concerns they likely won’t. They’re also at full quota, however, that was the case this time last year before Ken Sio left and the Red Devils signed David Nofoaluma who will go down as one of the biggest flops in Super League history.

St Helens (3) – Kyle Feldt, Lewis Murphy and Tristan Sailor

Just three signings made by St Helens but all three come from Down Under, albeit one is an Englishman. Lewis Murphy returns to Super League and he’ll learn from NRL veteran Kyle Feldt. Lewis Dodd’s replacement comes in the shape of Tristan Sailor who looked electric under Lee Briers who the Red Vee have also poached from Down Under.

Wakefield Trinity (1) – Seth Nikotemo

Promoted Wakefield have only signed one player from Down Under and that’s New Zealand-born prop Seth Nikotemo who was part of the set-up at Gold Coast Titans. He’s joined Trin on a three-year deal and earned big raps from Daryl Powell already.

Warrington Wolves (1) – Dan Russell

Wire lost Matty Nicholson to the NRL and with the quota spot that was freed up after Josh Drinkwater’s exit, they’ve signed Papua New Guinea international Dan Russell. The Kumuls star made 8 NRL appearances but has featured prominently in the Queensland Cup.

Wigan Warriors (0)

Like Salford, Wigan Warriors have made no signings albeit that’s more a reflection on the squad quality they already boast than anything else. Add to that the fact they tie down their elite overseas stars on long-term contracts i.e. Bevan French who has four years left on his deal, it means they’ve not dipped into the NRL market.
