Amid reports that York Knights have made one of their biggest ever signings, we have taken a look at who is already making the move to Super League ahead of next season.
Cameron McInnes, the Cronulla Sharks captain and former State of Origin star, is set to join Mark Applegarth’s side next season, in a major move from the NRL to the northern hemisphere.
When asked previously about his potential signature, Applegarth was coy in saying whether a deal had been struck, but did say that he would be “100% interested in looking at a move for McInnes.
Reports from Australia have revealed the Sharks skipper’s next destination, and a move is as good as done, we are just waiting on the Knights to announce his arrival.
McInnes has now spoken for the first time since the rumours, and revealed to ESPN that: “This will be my final year at the Sharks,
“I had some good conversations [with Perth Bears] but it just didn’t transpire in the end.”
Perth are still looking for some recruits ahead of their inaugural NRL season in 2027, but they were dealt a blow after McInnes revealed he would not be joining Mal Meninga’s side.

Every player to make Super League-NRL switch ahead of 2027 amid Cam McInnes rumours
Should McInnes sign at York, and it looks for all money that he will, he would be one of a few major names to be making the switch to the UK, with the likes of Wakefield Trinity and Castleford Tigers already announcing major deals.
We are only at the end of May, so the recruitment announcements for next season are only in their infancy. That being said, here is every confirmed signing and departure between Super League and the NRL that has been announced so far.
Castleford Tigers:
Ryan Carr’s side have confirmed two signings from the NRL so far, with St George Illawarra Dragons pair Damien Cook and Mat Feagai signing on the dotted line.
NRL veteran Cook, 34, has signed for two seasons, whilst Feagai, 25, has joined for three seasons, with both linking up with former Dragons teammate Mikaele Ravalawa at the club.
Catalans Dragons:
The French side haven’t made any signings for 2027 just yet, but we already know that two of their players will be leaving after just one season at the club.
Toby Sexton and Iszac Fa’asuamaleaui have both signed for Perth Bears next season, and will be a part of the newly-formed side in their maiden year.
Leeds Rhinos:
Joining the Catalans pair at the Dragons are three Leeds Rhinos players, with Harry Newman, James McDonnell and Mikolaj Oledzki all heading to Western Australia at the season’s end.
The trio are three of five impending exits from Headingley so far, with Brodie Croft and Cameron Smith making Super League switches for next year.
Leigh Leopards:
The Leopards like to keep their recruitment private until the end of the season, but one they weren’t able to keep under the rug was Owen Trout’s exit to the Cronulla Sharks.
The England international becomes the first Englishman in decades to sign for the Sharks, and will bolster a pack that will see plenty of changes too it, especially with McInnes’ exit.
Wakefield Trinity:
Another confirmed signing, and one that was the first to be announced, was arguably the biggest one of the lot.
Roger Tuivasa-Sheck will join Daryl Powell’s side for 2027, after the dual-code international signed a two-year deal.
There is some concern over RTS however, with the Kiwi potentially suffering an ACL injury over the weekend, in what would be a catastrophic blow to Trinity’s plans.
Warrington Wolves:
Last but not least, England skipper George Williams will get a second chance in the NRL after it was confirmed earlier in the year that he would depart Warrington to move down under.
It has not been officially confirmed where he will be playing next year, however there are very strong rumours linking him to Kristian Woolf’s Dolphins side for next year.
