A total of seven testimonial games will be played in January and early February with four of those in honour of current Super League stars and we’ve looked through when and where each match will take place.
The first pre-season game ahead of the 2025 campaign took place a week ago when Bradford Bulls defeated Keighley Cougars 26-0 and we’ve since had two Boxing Day clashes, including Leeds Rhinos’ narrow win over Wakefield Trinity.
Heading into January and the games will start coming thick and fast, not least because two rounds of the Challenge Cup will be played that month with Super League sides then entering at Round Three in early February.
Aside from those cup games will be plenty of pre-season warm-ups and among those are seven testimonial matches – four of which will be in the name of current Super League players.
Incredibly, Castleford Tigers are involved in three of those seven whilst nine of the twelve teams in Super League partake in at least one testimonial match.
Below, we’ve listed when and where each fixture is.
All seven rugby league testimonials in January and February
Quentin Laulu Togaga’e – 7:30 pm, January 10th @ Millennium Stadium: Sheffield Eagles v Castleford Tigers
The first of the seven testimonials sees QLT take part in his final ever rugby league game. The Sheffield Eagles full-back has confirmed that he will hang the boots up after this game having not played in 2024 after previously suffering a heart attack in training.
James Saltonstall – 3:00 pm, January 12th @ The Shay: Halifax Panthers v Warrington Wolves
Despite never playing a game for Warrington, Fax veteran James Saltonstall will face off against his boyhood club at the Shay in a game where Wire are expected to blood plenty of youngsters.
Luke Gale – 8:00 pm, January 24th @ DIY Kitchens Stadium: Wakefield Trinity v Castleford Tigers
Another of the friendlies that Castleford are involved in as their former Man of Steel winner plays his final game against them. After helping Trinity return to Super League, Gale will now move into coaching but not after his last dance.
I’m thrilled to unveil my Testimonial shirt! I’ve kept it traditional @WTrinityRL with the iconic red, white, and blue.

Morgan Knowles – 3:00 pm, January 25th @ Totally Wicked Stadium: St Helens v Salford Red Devils
Morgan Knowles doesn’t seem old enough to be in a testimonial year but the Cumbrian is entering his tenth season. With over 200 games for Saints already at just 28, he’s granted his testimonial against Super League opposition Salford Red Devils.
Ash Handley – 3:00 pm, January 26th @ Headingley Stadium: Leeds Rhinos v Wigan Warriors
Similar to Knowles, Handley does not seem old enough to be at this stage already but the winger debuted back in 2014. Leeds will face off with Wigan Warriors for Handley’s testimonial match.
Joe Westerman – 3:00 pm, February 1st @ Wheldon Road: Castleford Tigers v Hull FC
The 35-year-old debuted with Castleford Tigers back in 2017 before returning in 2022 and he’ll lead out a Cas side against his former club Hull FC, for whom he made over 150 appearances.
Toby King – 5:30 pm, February 1st @ Halliwell Jones Stadium: Warrington Wolves v Leigh Leopards
Toby King debuted back in 2014 and has gone on to make over 150 appearances for Wire. After loan spells away from the club in 2022 and 2023, he found success under Sam Burgess in 2024 and will now lead Warrington out against Leigh in early February.
