Swinton Lions 20-42 Dewsbury Rams

Swinton Lions’ current troubles were worsened on the pitch as Dewsbury Rams came out 42-20 winners in front of over 1,000 people at Heywood Road. Gareth Moore was the general for the Rams, scoring two tries and running the show in the process.

The Rams led 24-14 at the break but it was the Lions who struck first thanks to Mike Butt after 12 minutes. The conversion went astray. Dom Speakman, Gareth Moore and Aaron Brown all touched down in response for Dewsbury but Swinton were still fighting their corner. Liam Forsyth cut the deficit to ten points before Paul Sykes crossed for the visitors. Liam Paisley had the final say in the first half as he notched a four pointer a minute from time.

Brown completed his brace after the restart, with Sykes adding the extras to send Dewsbury to the 30 point mark. Ben White kept the Lions in the contest with his side’s fourth try of the game but Moore soon completed his brace to make it a three score game once again. Sam Day added gloss to the final scoreline for Dewsbury as the hooker darted over.
