London Broncos confirmed their second-placed finish in the Kingstone Press Championship with an emphatic 58-18 victory over Rochdale Hornets at the Crown Oil Arena. After a points-fest of a first half, 54 scored in total, the Broncos kept Rochdale scoreless in the second period while adding 22 more points of their own. Jarrod Sammut, Andy Ackers and Alex Walker all scored braces for the Broncos, who have had a superb end to the regular campaign following rather patchy form in midseason.
The Broncos were 18-0 up after 13 minutes thanks to converted tries from Ackers, Sammut and Walker. Rochdale replied with two quick tries through Jake Eccleston and Lewis Foster. Sammut and Rob Massam exchanged tries for the Broncos and Hornets before Matt Davis and Lewis Bienek both crossed to extend London’s lead to 36-18 at the interval.
In the second period, Welsh duo Rhys Williams and Ben Evans touched down before Ackers and Walker completed their braces to round off a superb afternoon for the club.
