Bradford Bulls 44-22 Batley Bulldogs

Bradford Bulls 29-22 Toulouse Olympique

Bradford Bulls claimed their third victory of the season to move on to -6 points with a 44-22 victory against Batley Bulldogs. Ross Oakes and Johnny Campbell both scored braces for the Bulls, who outscored Batley eight tries to four.

There was nothing to separate the two sides at the break with the score at 18-18. Oakes and Alistair Leak swapped scores for Bradford and Batley respectively before Joel Farrell’s converted try gave the Bulldogs a six point advantage after 16 minutes. James Bentley and Kevin Larroyer then crossed the whitewash in quick succession as the Bulls regained their advantage. Sam Smeaton levelled matters six minutes from time in a half where both teams traded blows.

The visitors got off to a great start in the second half thanks to a Tom Holmes try but Ethan Ryan soon replied for Bradford. Smeaton was sin-binned on 51 minutes after the Bulldogs had been warned about repeated infringement. Only one try was scored in his absence and that came courtesy of Oakes before Oscar Thomas made it a two score game with a penalty. Three tries in the final 12 minutes made sure Bradford kept the spoils at Odsal, with Leigh Beattie’s men looking to be on the up. Campbell bagged a brace either side of a score from Thomas.
