England international Herbie Farnworth latest as club increases interest ahead of big transfer offer

English centre Herbie Farnworth has been attracting increasing attention on both sides of the hemisphere.

And, now one club is ramping up their attempt to coax the Brisbane Broncos centre to their club.

Farnworth is off-contract at the end of the 2022 season with a number of NRL clubs and English rugby chasing him.

That club ramping up their interest is the Dolphins as new head coach Wayne Bennett continues to build his squad for his first season in the NRL with the Redcliffe club.

Broncos football boss Ben Ikin revealed the interest in Farnworth, but says Brisbane are keen to retain the 22-year-old, who has played 41 NRL games for the club since his debut in 2019.

“We certainly want to keep him,” Ikin told the Courier Mail. “Herbie has some interest. He wanted to get through the pre-season before we started stepping through what next year will look like.

“He wanted to knuckle down and be well prepped for this season.

“He is a very highly capable player with great versatility. At this stage, he is one of those off-contract players that we’ll start negotiations with and get to the pointy end with when the time is appropriate.”

The 22-year-old has played 41 NRL games for the club since his Broncos debut in 2019.
