English International set to retire this afternoon

Media outlets such as the Daily Telegraph, NRL.com and Fox League have reported that later this afternoon the South Sydney Rabbitohs will announce the immediate retirement of English International forward Sam Burgee for medical reasons.

Rumours of Burgess’ retirement have been circulating for weeks, with the Rabbitohs already rumoured to be searching for a replacement in the likes of David Fifita Jr or Tyson Frizell.

Burgess has had a star studded career in the NRL, playing 182 games and winning a premiership in 2014 with the South Sydney Rabbitohs, playing the entire game with a broken cheekbone and winning the Clive Churchill medal.
