English import’s spot uncertain as Raiders re-sign halfback

The Canberra Raiders have re-signed tenured halfback Sam Williams on a two-year-deal in a move that raises two questions.

Does this mean Aiden Sezer will exit the club?

And what role will English import George Williams play in 2020?

The Raiders now currently have four pretty reputable halves on their books, which will cause coach Ricky Stuart quite the headache come selection time.

Jack Wighton is the only one of the four who has secured his role in the Raiders’ starting side in 2020 as a result of his breakout 2019 in the five-eighth position.

Rumours have circulated for the past couple of years that Sezer is unhappy at the Raiders and this could as they say be the straw that broke the camel’s back and result in the half leaving the ACT.

Sam Williams has obviously just re-signed and has 94 NRL games under his belt, and his re-signing could mean that new signing George Williams could start the 2020 season in the Canterbury Cup with the Mounties.

Speaking of George Williams, the incoming import is a Super League winner and is bound to find himself in first grade some time in 2020, however Ricky Stuart may look to start him off the bench or in the Canterbury Cup to adjust to life in Australia.
