England World Cup star set for new position as major NRL switch confirmed

Yesterday, the Brisbane Broncos have confirmed Tesi Niu will depart the club.

Niu scored 11 tries in 32 games for the Broncos, having made his debut for the club in Round 4, 2020 against the Roosters.

Broncos Coach Kev Walters said: “Tesi has been in the Broncos system for a number of years and is highly regarded across the club.

“But we believe he will receive more opportunity elsewhere and it’s an indication of our respect for Tesi that we have allowed him to depart.

“We wish Tesi all the best in the next part of his journey.”

This announcement came after reports that he had been given permission to talk to the NRL’s newest club The Dolphins about a potential move according to the Courier Mail which all but confirmed that he was joining the NRL’s 17th team.

Now that has been confirmed by the Dolphins today as they make another signing ahead of 2023.

They are led by ex-England and Great Britian coach Wayne Bennett who is close to pulling off this major move from one of The Dolphins’ closest teams in terms of proximity.

Bennett is also helped along by assistant and future boss Kristian Woolf formerly of St Helens.

This all benefits England star Herbie Farnworth who is keen on taking the fullback spot at Brisbane.

Now only Reece Walsh stands in his way which could stand Brisbane a better chance of keeping Farnworth beyond 2023.

So, the door is firmly open now for Farnworth to shine in new position.
