England vs Greece Team News: Predicting Shaun Wane’s side with choice between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors stars

Shaun Wane named his 19-man squad earlier today.

Sam Tomkins was rested alongside Herbie Farnworth, Elliot Whitehead, Michael McIlorum whilst Kallum Watkins misses out through a head injury.

So, what will the team look like? Here’s our prediction

Fullback: Jack Welsby
With no Sam Tomkins, this is a chance to see Jack Welsby start at fullback in what could be a taste of the future. It also gives Shaun Wane further options should injuries arise.

Wingers: Dom Young & Tommy Makinson
Wane could return to the wingers who started against Samoa despite Ryan Hall’s brace against France last week. Dom Young could be rested, but he should be kept in the side to sustain his momentum.

Centres: John Bateman & Kai Pearce-Paul
With Watkins injured and Herbie Farnworth rested, Wigan duo John Bateman and Kai Pearce-Paul could start in the centres. Bateman started the 2017 World Cup Final in the role.

Halfbacks: George Williams & Marc Sneyd
With Welsby at fullback, skipper for the day George Williams will start in the halves alongside Marc Sneyd.

Props: Tom Burgess & Chris Hill
In every game so far, these two have started at prop and Shaun Wane will likely hope to sustain their form by keeping them at prop for this game.

Hooker: Andy Ackers
With no Michael McIlorum, Andy Ackers will surely make a first start of the tournament unless Wane wants to play Victor Radley in the role.

Second-Rowers: Mike McMeeken & Joe Batchelor
With Whitehead rested and Bateman at centre, Joe Batchelor could make his England debut at second-row alongside Mike McMeeken in the back-row.

Loose-Forward: Victor Radley
Like Hill and Burgess, Victor Radley has started every game and that could again be the case here especially due to the sentiment of the occasion with his family from Sheffield.

Substitutes: Luke Thompson, Morgan Knowles, Matty Lees, Mike Cooper
Morgan Knowles, Matty Lees and Mike Cooper will likely come back into the side after missing last week joining Luke Thompson who has been something of a super sub so far. Mikolaj Oledzki could also feature and it will likely be a choice between him, Lees and Cooper.
