England star’s future reportedly confirmed as he signs multi-million dollar deal

The future of England star Herbie Farnworth has been up in the air.

After playing sensationally in England’s semi-final defeat to Samoa in the Rugby League World Cup, the story around Farnworth has been will he stay at Brisbane.

In the final year of his contract at Brisbane Broncos, other clubs can approach him but throwing a spanner in the works is the fact he wants to play fullback.

He has been second in line behind Reece Walsh for the number one jumper but Brisbane have been determined to tie him down.

“Herbie is a terrific player who’s really developed over the last few years,” Brisbane CEO Dave Donaghy told News Corp.

“He’s coming into the peak of his game and we’d love to keep him, like we would all our players.

“He is a fine young man and had a great experience with England at the World Cup. He is great around the group and is set for a big year.

“He was a big loss last year when he went down injured. Coming back in, he will be like a new signing for the group given he missed half a season. We’re really looking forward to seeing what he does.

“There’s still a little bit to do around what the salary cap looks like and some uncertainty, but once we’re clear on that we’d love to start some discussions with Herbie and his management to keep him at the Broncos longer term.”

Now though he has again been linked with a move to the NRL’s newest club the Dolphins by reports down under.

The centre would command a big salary and the Dolphins, who have 25% of their cap spare, would be able to offer him that whilst the Broncos would certainly struggle to do the same.

However, now the Daily Telegraph has reported that he is set to reject big offers to stay at Brisbane inking a multi-million dollar extension at the club.
