England star says this is “unacceptable” from France after defeat to England

For those who have championed and worked hard for French rugby league seeing them lose 64-0 to England on Saturday, twice when you factor in the women’s game, it must have been hard to watch.

Interestingly there is one France side who are very competitive and that is their wheelchair side who lost their world title to England in the World Cup spearheaded by Seb Bechara.

So, the England star knows all about what a truly competitive meeting between England and France can do for the sport.

However, he was left stunned by the fact some French players involved on Saturday only train twice a week which he branded unacceptable as he hopes the sport can become stronger in France.

“I know we all want it to be a bright future for France but Laurent Frayssinous mentioned it there that some of them train just twice a week,” he said on Sky Sports.

“You compare that with some players who are training every single day, it is unacceptable really.

“They are going to have to do something to get that daily training in and that helps with performance.

“They have been physically out classed today and you can tell. If he says they are only training twice a week, then you can understand why.”

Brian Carney echoed these sentiments saying:

“We need a cohesive strategy not just for the game in England but in France as well.”
