England

AJ Brimson: Made a nice run in the opening  moments, but was hurt in the process and went off after just 11 minutes. 5

Joe Burgess: Mistake led to the Aussies’ first try, no clear attacking chances and conceded a couple of penalties. 4

Harry Newman: Steady carries, forced a drop out, got into a scuffle; unlucky for the Aussies’ fourth try. 6

Herbie Farnworth: Tried really hard, put himself about without quite managing to find an opening. 7

Tom Johnstone: Looked for work, was solid, but didn’t get a running chance. 6

George Williams: Did really well with his try, but didn’t create a lot and kicked when he should have run 6

Harry Smith: Not exactly poor, but didn’t ask enough questions in good ball 5

Mike McMeeken: Good first spell, lost the ball on the Aussies’ line with his first touch when he returned 6

Jez Litten: Had a big game, produced England’s best play of the entire series to set up Williams’ score. 8

Matty Lees: Tough in his opening spell, but faded. 6

Kallum Watkins: Couple of knock-ons, but a nice half-break and try-saving tackle; played the full 80 again 7

Kai Pearce-Paul: Put the effort in, but needed to get his hands on the ball more 6

Morgan Knowles: Knock-on led to the Kangaroos’ second try, but physical in defence 7

Subs

Mikey Lewis: Came on after 11 early at full-back; made some errors and conceded a game-breaking penalty 4

Alex Walmsley: Made a positive difference when he came on before half-time 7

Morgan Smithies: Also had an impact, helped England get on the front foot leading into the break 7

Mikolaj Oledzki: Birthday boy put in a solid shift and made some strong carries; but only got 20 minutes after half-time or the mark would’ve been higher. 6
