England wrapped up a 2-0 series win as they beat Samoa 34-16 at Headingley Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Shaun Wane’s side scored six tries on the day, with star man Herbie Farnworth getting over the line on two occasions as he continues to impress on the international stage. Liam Marshall got England’s first of the day on his international debut, while George Williams, Matty Ashton and Jack Welsby also touched down.
Just as they did a week ago in the first Test, Samoa got three tries, through Shawn Blore, Jake Tago and Jeremiah Nanai, but it wasn’t enough to trouble the hosts.
Here’s our player ratings from Headingley:
Jack Welsby: Not his best showing and won’t have been happy with how Samoa scored their second try of the afternoon. Scored England’s sixth try after getting on the end of a Farnworth burst. 6
Matty Ashton: Took his try very well, touching down acrobatically in the corner. 7
Harry Newman: Ran well in the first half but couldn’t find the opening he craved. 6
Herbie Farnworth: Took both of his tries so well, running superb lines and creating opportunities out of nothing. He created Welsby’s effort in the second half, too. 9
Liam Marshall: Looked the part on his international debut and got England’s first try of the afternoon. 7
George Williams: Bagged an assist and a try on another fine afternoon for the Warrington Wolves man. 8
Harry Smith: Ran the game at times and kicked Samoa to death. Set up Ashton’s try with a superb cut out pass. 8
Ethan Havard: Ran well in the first half and helped England weather an early Samoa storm. 7
Daryl Clark: Busy throughout but struggled for attacking opportunities. 7
Matty Lees: Impressed with his fierce and powerful running in both halves of the contest. 7
John Bateman: Showed his experience and nous at times, while he also turned in a typically astute performance. 7
Junior Nsemba: Broke the line on a couple of occasions on his England debut. Looked more than at home on the international stage. 7
Victor Radley: Took a hefty knock early on and left the field shortly after. Re-emerged in the second half, though, and spent the final few moments of the game at second-row. 6
Mikey Lewis: Arrived in the action late. 6
Morgan Knowles: Tried hard through the middle but his impact was limited. 6
Mike McMeeken: Caused problems with his size through the middle. 7
Luke Thompson: Made an impact straight away and played big minutes. 7
