Elliott Whitehead and Josh Hodgson were both on great form as Canberra Raiders beat Cronulla Sharks 30-12 earlier today.
Cronulla scored the first eight points of the contest thanks to a Sosaia Feki converted try and Valentine Holmes penalty.
But the Green Machine replied in emphatic fashion, with Hodgson and Whitehead having a hand in a number of tries.
A pass out of dummy-half from Hodgson was perfect for Josh Papalii who steamed over the chalk. The try was converted by Jarrod Croker who went on to kick a penalty to level the scores.
Jordan Rapana gave the visitors a healthy advantage with a 14-minute brace before an offload from Whitehead found Hodgson who cut through the Sharks defence to score. At half-time, Canberra led 24-8.
Gerard Beale cut the deficit after the break with his side’s second try of the game but three successive penalty goals – while Papalii was in the sin-bin for a professional foul – from Croker stopped any form of a comeback as the Raiders sealed a comfortable win.
