We have seen a number of Super League clubs make big signings for 2024 including Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves and Hull KR.
Catalans Dragons have also been busy bringing in Hull FC prop Chris Satae and have been linked with Huddersfield Giants star and former St Helens star Theo Fages.
This is because the club’s spine is set for a real shake up with Mitchell Pearce headed for the NRL and Tyrone May also set for an exit despite the collapse of his own NRL move.
Sam Tomkins meanwhile is set to retire. Beyond that, the club have lost a lot of players to Super League rivals.
Mickael Goudemand is headed to Leeds Rhinos and Tiaki Chan is going to Wigan alongside centre Adam Keighran.
Wigan have also signed a man many expected to join Catalans in the shape of Kruise Leeming.
And missing on Leeming will be a bitter pill to swallow. The hooker had left Super League earlier this year but he will be back soon.
The Warriors announced that Leeming had signed a four-year deal with the club from the 2024 season.
The 27-year-old, who played for six years at Huddersfield Giants between 2013 and 2019, will join from the Gold Coast Titans whom he joined after leaving Leeds in April 2023.
Catalans’ interest in Leeming had raised questions about the future of former Wigan man and Leeds born hooker Michael McIlorum.
The England international was reportedly considering retirement at the end of 2023.
However, according to Treize Mondial in France, Leeming’s decision to go to Wigan prompted McIlorum to consider playing on in Perpignan and as time ticks on McIlorum surely edges closer to a decision.
In fact now reports from L’Independent have suggested that the hooker has backflipped on his initial retirement and will sign an extension with the French club.
Meanwhile, Leeming will be hoping for a similar Wigan stint to what McIlorum enjoyed in the Cherry and White.
He won the double in 2013 alongside plenty of other honours. He looks to be in a strong position to add more honours to his illustrious career with Catalans Dragons riding high at the top of Super League at the current moment.
