England international and Brisbane Broncos star Herbie Farnworth reportedly linked with sensational move

If there is one England player that has an incredibly bright future ahead of him then it is Herbie Farnworth.

The England international centre has become one of the most consistent centres in the NRL over the past few years for the Brisbane Broncos and he became one of the most sought after stars earlier in the season.

However, Brisbane managed to tie Farnworth down to a 12-month contract with the promise of playing at fullback.

That promise, however, looks set to be broken with the signing of Reece Walsh from the New Zealand Warriors, whilst Selwyn Cobbo’s lucrative multi-million dollar deal will see the teenager compete for that elusive number one shirt.

A number of clubs had been in for Farnworth before he signed that extension, including the NRL’s new side the Dolphins who are still yet to find their marquee men for 2023 for their inaugural season in the Australian competition.

And, now zerotackle has reported on Farnworth that he “is off-contract at the end of 2023 and seemingly set to chase big dollars elsewhere.”

It’s no secret that the England centre will want to grab a multi-million dollar deal whilst he is in the prime of his life, with the Dolphins and Wayne Bennett expected to come back in for him.

Farnworth himself revealed earlier in the year that he could have left the Broncos only to sign on again.

“I am happy with the Broncos and I love everyone here, but I have to weigh up my options,” Farnworth told The Australian.

“Obviously I love the Broncos, I have been here since I was 15 years old, but I have to do the best thing for myself.

“It’s nice to know for sure that clubs are interested. I’ve only heard it through the media that clubs are chasing me, but I’ll be sitting down with my management team and my uncle Brian (Foley, legendary Wigan scout) and come up with the best option for me.

“I haven’t been talking to any clubs myself. I have been letting my agents talk to the clubs and then I will meet with them in the next couple of weeks and sit down and go through all the options.”

However, it looks increasingly likely that Farnworth will have another club in 2023.
