England international and Brisbane Broncos star Herbie Farnworth makes stunning decision on his future

Herbie Farnworth has been dominating news headlines recently with his future at the Brisbane Broncos up in the air.

The Dolphins are said to have been chasing the outside back for almost a year after Farnworth’s importance to Brisbane has been underlined.

The 22-year-old has been given a new contract offer by the Broncos, but he quickly became one of the most sought-after talents, with Parramatta Eels, Canberra Raiders and the Dolphins all said to be chasing him, according to Fox Sports.

Farnworth himself had broken his silence about his future, revealing a link to a current Super League side.

“I am happy with the Broncos and I love everyone here, but I have to weigh up my options,” Farnworth told The Australian.

“Obviously I love the Broncos, I have been here since I was 15 years old, but I have to do the best thing for myself.

“It’s nice to know for sure that clubs are interested. I’ve only heard it through the media that clubs are chasing me, but I’ll be sitting down with my management team and my uncle Brian (Foley, legendary Wigan scout) and come up with the best option for me.

“I haven’t been talking to any clubs myself. I have been letting my agents talk to the clubs and then I will meet with them in the next couple of weeks and sit down and go through all the options.

“We haven’t put a deadline on things, but in the next few weeks we will talk to all the clubs and then come up with a plan of attack.”

One of those most vigorously chasing Farnworth is the Dolphins with head coach Wayne Bennett a huge admirer of his.

“We’re certainly interested in Herbie,” Bennett said.

“We haven’t spoken to him at this stage. We are waiting in the queue because I think he is out there talking to a few clubs.

“But I like what he brings and we will wait for the heads up from their management to talk to him.”

However, the England international is now set to STAY at Red Hill, signing a one-year deal in the process with the news confirmed this morning.

Farnworth said: “I’ve been here since I was 15 and I’m really happy with all the boys and (Coach) Kevvie and all the staff – I really enjoy it here at the club.
