Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils served up a terrific game yesterday afternoon.
Wigan just about got over the line with Jai Field enjoying another stellar performance, scoring two tries and carving Salford up on numerous occasions.
Field recently signed a contract extension at the DW Stadium and the Warriors fans will be thanking their lucky stars that he has with the diminutive Australian proving the difference between winning and losing again.
But, the last 20 minutes of the fast and frenetic fixture was hailed by cricketing hero Ben Stokes – a man who has strong connections with the game given his father, Ged, was once the head coach of Workington Town rugby league club.
Stokes, who has arguably become one of England’s most important cricketers in recent years, tweeted: “Best 20mins of Rugby League I’ve seen in a long long time between Wigan and Salford, some try from Jai Field to win it.”

That win consolidated Wigan’s position in second in the Super League table whilst Salford remain in ninth after just three wins in ten games.
The Red Devils play St Helens at the Totally Wicked Stadium in their next fixture whilst Wigan are away at Warrington Wolves.
