Emotional Tom Briscoe picks out best moments at the club as Leeds Rhinos confirm exciting kit news for tonight

Leeds Rhinos take on New Zealand tonight.

The game is a World Cup warm up for the Kiwis but will act as a farewell for a number of players.

Legends Thomas Leuluai and Adam Cuthbertson will play their final games of their careers for teams that defined that in the shape of New Zealand and Leeds Rhinos respectively.

Meanwhile, Muizz Mustapha, Bodene Thompson, Brad Dwyer and Tom Briscoe – who captains the side – will make their final Leeds appearances.

Briscoe has spent nine years at Leeds and won six major trophies scoring nine tries in five major final victories for the club, but now his time as a Rhino is coming to a close but he will have one last great experience at Headingley tonight and he’s looking forward to it.

Speaking on the Rhinos YouTube channel, Briscoe said: “It’s been good, it’s been enjoyable off the back of a disappointing Grand Final which was hard to take. But having the week off to regroup and regather ourselves, we’ve come in this week, it’s been a chilled week. Been fun, playing games in training knowing it’s going to be a tough game at the weekend but one we’re excited and looking forward to.”

He’s especially looking forward to the Haka: “To experience the Haka and stand in front of that is an experience and for people who haven’t done that before, it’s great.”

He also picked out some of his highest moments as a Rhino: “It’s got to be the Wembley final has to be the highest and the 2017 Grand Final just for the journey and the story of that season, too many to name.”

He also expects it to be an emotional night: “I got a bit emotional after the Grand Final obviously for a number of reasons but after this it will be it so I’ll try to keep it in check and take it all in.

“It will be a sad time.”

A last for Briscoe but a first for the Rhinos, they will wear their 2023 home shirt tonight to say farewell to their past heroes.

Briscoe is rumoured to be joining Leigh in 2023.
