Reports in Australia claim Parramatta are looking to bring Bevan French back to the club.
The 24-year-old was frozen out by the Eels last year and made a mid-season transfer overseas to Wigan Warriors.
French has excelled in Super League averaging almost a try per game and is one of the front runners for the 2020 Man of Steel award.
He has also made a number of positional switches between full-back and the halves and his utility value is attracting interest from his former club.
Parramatta centre Michael Jennings was suspended for an alleged doping breach last week with current full-back Clint Gutherson set to shift to centre.
This would leave a void in the no.1 role which the Eels want to fill with the return of French, and the try-scoring machine would likely welcome the reunion despite a successful stint in England.
It’s believed Wigan have secured the services of Jai Field for the 2021 campaign following his release from Parramatta last week, meaning they have a ready-made replacement should French depart.
The Australian Daily Telegraph’s David Riccio told NRL tonight: “I believe that the Eels will nab Bevan French and he will be on his way back to Australia pretty soon.
“This popped up last week as far as the Parramatta Eels potentially considering moving Clint Gutherson to the right centre position.
“Gutherson could also move into the left centre position depending on their availability out wide, given the situation regarding Michael Jennings.”
