In 2019, Eddie Hemmings covered his last Sky Sports game at Wigan Warriors.
This came after around three decades of being the voice of rugby league and overseeing the start of Super League.
Today, as coverage pivoted from the Hull derby to Wigan Warriors derby with St Helens, viewers watching Sky were shocked to hear Eddie introduce the Wigan-Saints derby.
It was just like old times until current presenter Brian Carney appeared on screen joking saying that Eddie was trying to steal his position.
These days Eddie is doing a brilliant podcast with old mate Mike ‘Stevo’ Stephenson the aptly named Eddie and Stevo podcast.
As he gave his thoughts on Super League he questioned: “Is it Warrington’s year?”
People were very pleased to see him back if only for a rare appearance:
Eddie Hemmings, what a gentleman, always so kind, gracious and giving, so many happy memories with this guy (and the other one😉) Looking great, allez Eduardo!
