Eddie and Stevo say they would have “shouted and screamed” at Super League side as they blew huge chance

Leeds Rhinos are doing it tough at the moment.

They have lost the last three in league and cup.

But in the mind of former Sky Sports commentator Eddie Hemmings the Rhinos blew their chance for a huge win over Champions St Helens when they didn’t go for the drop goal in extra time.

“If you were there that night I could picture you screaming and shouting at Leeds asking what they’re doing and where they’re going,” Eddie said on the Eddie and Stevo podcast.

“They moved away from the centre of the field and tried to go out wide and score the try in golden point extra time.

“I don’t think they had a man capable of kicking the one pointer. Blake Austin was off, he was out before the start of the game and Aiden Sezer had gone off. Leeds were decimated by injuries, had a man sent off but in the end it was Lewis Dodd who scored the drop goal for Saints.”

Stevo added: “It was one of those situations where you thought surely Saints would run away with it late in the game.

“I was in complete disbelief how Leeds were still in the game and whilst they lost I can assure you that the players, the coach and the crowd would appreciate what they achieved in those last 15 to 20 minutes against all the odds.”
