Eddie and Stevo say relegation is between these two clubs

Before a ball was kicked in the 2023 Super League season it was suggested that the relegation battle was set to be between newly promoted Leigh Leopards and Wakefield Trinity.

Wakefield haven’t won a game yet this season but Leigh have five wins.

The closest teams to Wakefield are local rivals Castleford Tigers and Hull FC.

However, Eddie and Stevo believe it is the Black and Whites in relegation trouble rather than Cas after losing seven in a row.

“Perhaps Wakefield might be looking at one thing, and who would have thought this?” Stevo said, “They may just be looking at the Black and Whites. If they could just grab a couple of wins throughout the season and Hull continue their downfall, maybe that could be a battle royale.”

Eddie then added: “We’ve got Hull and Wakefield seeming to be battling it out just now to avoid the big drop.”

Discussing if Leigh will survive in 2023, Stevo said: “I’d have to say yes. You look at the fact of will Wakefield have at least four wins throughout the season? That’s quite difficult to get those eight points on the league leader. It’s probably going to be a safe enough cushion to stay clear of maybe a fight back from Wakefield or the Black and Whites.
