Eastmond: The time was right

New Leeds Rhinos halfback Kyle Eastmond said the time was right for him to return to rugby league after almost 10 years out.

Eastmond has not played rugby league since 2011, when he joined Bath. He spent almost 10 years in Union after further spells with Wasps and Leicester Tigers.

The former Oldham St Annes player also represented England on six occasions.

Speaking about the decision to come back. he said: “There have been times where I have thought about it, and its not come off. I just feel now is the time to come back.

“I’ve played Union for nine years, and I have achieved all my goals. I felt as though the time was right for a new challenge.

“The maturity I’ve come back with now is a big difference. Im coming back now with a lot more experience of different environments.

“I’ve learned another game as well, which is important. But the growth I have had over the last nine years has been good for me.”
