Duo have emergency facial surgery following jaw fractures

NRL duo AJ Brimson and Tom Starling have had devastating facial surgery, following jaw fractures sustained in last weekend’s fixtures.

Both are expected to be out for four to six weeks which could end their respective seasons, if neither the Gold Coast nor Canberra make the finals.

Fullback AJ Brimson suffered a jaw injury after being hit with a stray boot from South Sydney’s Latrell Mitchell in the Titans’ 36-6 loss at the weekend.

“AJ has sustained a hairline fracture to his jaw,” Titans high performance manager Klint Hoare said.

“The incident happened in the second half of the game against Souths and it’ll rule him out this week.

“AJ has been to see a surgeon today and we are now waiting for further information.”

Both Brimson and Starling were snapped following their surgeries, with both looking in high spirits.
