Duffy pulls no punches in Cas thrashing

John Duffy couldn’t have been more disappointed with his side’s 52-16 loss at the hands of Castleford.

“It was another disappointing night for us, we copped a few injuries early on like we did in the first few rounds,” Duffy said.

“We’ve got to take it on the chin and stay together as a group and get out of this fight we are in.”

Despite being a Championship club in 2020, the Leigh boss was keen to stress that that is not having a factor in his side’s performances.

“We knew what was happening from the outset – we knew we were going to make a bid for Super League and we knew what we were going to get so there are no excuses from us.”

Of course, the Centurions were put to the sword by a better team and Duffy was quick to praise his opposition.

“I said before the game that Cas are going to be up there at the end of the year.

“They are a classy, well-coached outfit and they look as they will go out with a bang for Daryl (Powell) this year.
