Dom Young’s brother given huge opportunity as he signs for top flight club

We have many fantastic British wingers at the moment like Ash Handley at Leeds Rhinos, Liam Marshall at Wigan Warriors, Matty Ashton at Warrington Wolves whilst Hull FC’s Adam Swift, Hull KR’s Ryan Hall and of course Leigh Leopards star Josh Charnley are in great form. Tom Johnstone is tearing things up at Catalans Dragons whilst Tommy Makinson continues to prove he’s world class.

As is the man who alongside Makinson started on the wings for England in that semi-final clash with Samoa last year, former Huddersfield Giants man Dom Young.

Young debuted in Super League back in 2020 before making the move to the NRL where he is now one of the top wingers in the game.

He also showed his quality for England scoring tries for fun in the World Cup.

2024 is a big year for his career as he joined Sydney Roosters.

Now in a surprise twist he is set to be joined by brother Alex Young at his new club Sydney Roosters in 2024 with Alex signing a development deal with the club in 2024 with an option to join the top 30 of the club in 2025.

Young is a Jamaican international and currently at Newcastle Thunder but he has now been given a huge opportunity by the top flight club with that option to be in the all important top 30 in 2025.

He will join his brother at the Roosters after he endured a long transfer saga.

The winger had wanted to confirm his future before the start of the 2023 campaign, which began in early March.

Trent Robinson, coach of the Sydney Roosters, had reportedly wined and dined but was one of a number of coaches to have done so with the former England man.

However it appears that Robinson’s meeting had the desired with Young will signing with the Roosters for 2024 and beyond.

It’s believed that he had received huge offers ranging upwards of $500,000 a season, but ultimately it’s the Roosters who he has signed for.

He’ll join England teammate, Victor Radley, providing that the loose forward also extends his stay in Sydney given he is also out of contract for 2024 and beyond at present.

Losing Young is a huge blow for Newcastle Knights and potentially even a blow for the two young English stars who are set to join them in 2024, Will Pryce and Kai Pearce-Paul will no longer have a familiar English face to nurture their early NRL days.
