Dom Young explains why Super League duo will be successful in the NRL

Dom Young has taken the rugby league world by storm recently.

The England star scored tries for fun in the Rugby League World Cup having been free scoring in the NRL for Newcastle Knights and it was this that enabled Young to make the England squad.

He even admitted that he hadn’t thought about playing for England at the start of the season.

“I’ve not really played much in England so for me coming back I was probably relatively unknown to the English fans, so getting that experience of playing in front of English crowds was pretty special,” he said on the Newcastle Knights’ podcast.

“At the start of the season I didn’t really think about playing for England, I started playing well and it was on the radar but until the call came I still never thought it would actually happen.

“Being a winger in that team with great half-backs it was easy for me to get the ball in good positions.”

In 2024 the English star will be joined two more English stars of the future in Wigan Warriors’ Kai Pearce-Paul and Huddersfield Giants’ Will Pryce.

Young has explained why he believes both will be big successes:

“Two really exciting players, Kai was in the England squad with me and we played a centre-wing partnership against Greece. They’re both really exciting and got a lot of flair about them.

“Kai is a very big boy as well, might even have me in height. Full of offloads and strong line running and then Will you just give him the ball and good luck trying to stop him.

“I think they’re really good signings for the Knights and fans will look forward to watching them. I think they’re a lot more ready than I was, they’ve had a couple of years playing in Super League.”
