Chris Chester’s appointment as Leigh Centurions’ Head of Rugby caused a few raised eyebrows following his sacking from Wakefield Trinity.
Chester was given his marching orders by the Trinity board after just four wins midway through the season, with interim head coach Willie Poching eventually winning five games from seven.
But, just how dod social media react to the move?
One Leigh fan retaliated to another that claimed it wasn’t the best of moves.
Good to hear your positive comments sam🥱 personally I like this appointment. I feel he can't be worse than cunningham or carvel and think he'll do a good job

Another Centurions supporter called it a ‘tough’ gig.
Let's hope he gets the freedom to do the job he has been appointed for and could build our club literally from the bottom we're it is at now. Good luck to him I think it be a tough job.

Another believed that the appointment would signal Kurt Haggerty staying on as head coach in 2022.
So reading between the lines, haggerty is head coach in 2022. Chester has full autonomy, let's hope that is the case as it should be imo

One Wakefield fan, however, believed young players would not get an opportunity under Chester.
He'll stabilise you and make you competitive but say goodbye to any youth prospects or development.

A Leigh fan was overjoyed with the news.

One Wakefield fan believed it would signal Leigh’s return to Super League.
Great choice you watch you will be back in super league next season

That sentiment was echoed by a Leigh fan.
Good appointment this. Just what we need. Welcome to Leigh Chris 👍 ⚪🔴#leyther

However, one Leigh supporter wasn’t too happy.
Doesn’t sound like a match made in heaven does it?
