After starring in the World Cup and claiming the Man of the Match in the World Club Challenge at the start of the season, St Helens star Jack Welsby stirred up plenty of interest in the NRL according to reports.
Now one club is set to make a play for the fullback who claimed the Man of the Match for St Helens against Wigan Warriors last night with a hat-trick of assists and two brilliant tries in a six-try win for the Champions against their bitter rivals’ and Welsby’s childhood club.
According to legendary Australian commentator Andrew Voss, NRL giants Sydney Roosters are set to make a play for the fullback.
He took to Twitter to say:
“The Sydney Roosters to make a play for St Helens star Jack Welsby…That’s what my crystal ball is telling me..”

Interestingly, the news comes after Tommy Makinson spoke to Sky Sports and expressed how good Welsby is calling for Super League to make sure players like him don’t leave the competition for the NRL.
Fearful Welsby could move on, Makinson said: “A message to Super League, we absolutely have to keep these players in our competition.
“He is 22 years old and he has won it all but he keeps going.
“We have to keep players like him in Super League. At least for three of four more years so I can keep scoring them tries.”
Did Makinson know something that we didn’t at the time?
