‘Disgrace’ – Rugby League fans say the same thing after controversial Castleford Tigers v Hull FC decision

Hull FC

Innes Senior’s yellow card against Hull FC on Thursday night has been branded ‘a disgrace’ by Super League fans. Castleford Tigers winger Senior was sent to the sin bin at the start of the second half after appearing to make contact with the head of Cust in a tackle.

The Black and Whites were looking to spread the play on the attack with Aidan Sezer finding his half-back partner in a swift move. However, reading the play well, Senior stepped inside and hit the stand-off to end the move.

Referee Liam Moore didn’t see the need for action in real time but with Cust left on the deck, the tackle was examined by the referee with Senior being adjudged to have made shoulder to head contact. As such, he was sent to the sin bin, with the referee explaining on the field that mitigation had saved Senior from a red card.

Hull FC immediately made the most of their numerical advantage as Lewis Martin touched down in the corner before Cust left the field for a head injury assessment. The stand-off failed his HIA, ending his evening early and ensuring he will not feature in the Challenge Cup quarter-final clash against Hull KR next week.

The Black and Whites didn’t spend too long with a man extra, though, with Amir Bourouh joining Senior in the sin bin following a dangerous lift.

It’s fair to say the decision to show Senior a yellow sparked outrage online, though, with Super League fans having their say. Here’s a snapshot of what has been said about the incident.

Fred Gee: Never a sin binning. Officiating in RL has gone backwards
