DISCIPLINARY: Westwood facing lengthy ban for headbutt

Ben Westwood could be set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after he was cited for the headbutt that saw him sent off during Warrington’s match against Wigan on Friday night.

The Wolves veteran forward has been charged with a Grade D offence and the incident has been referred straight to an independent tribunal to be heard tomorrow.

If found guilty of the headbutt on Morgan Escare, Westwood will be suspended for between three and five matches and will miss his club’s busy Easter period.

Elsewhere, Wakefield back-rower Danny Kirmond is set to sit out his sides next two games after he was cited for Grade C Dangerous Contact.

Kirmond has been given a two-match penalty notice but can appeal the decision before lunchtime tomorrow and have his case heard by an independent tribunal.

Disciplinary round-up:

Danny Kirmond (Wakefield) – Grade C Dangerous Contact – 2 Match Penalty Notice
Ben Westwood (Warrington) – Grade D Headbutt – Refer to Tribunal
