Dewsbury snap up Super League outside back

Dewsbury have confirmed the signing of Hull KR outside back Will Oakes on a season-long loan.

The 20-year-old has played 24 times for Rovers since debuting in 2016, whilst also having successful loan spells with York.

He has made 36 senior appearances in total, scoring 18 tries in Super League, the Championship and League 1.

Oakes is also a Scotland international and recently returned from helping the Bravehearts qualify for the 2021 World Cup.

“I’m really pleased we’ve managed to secure Will for the season, he is a quality player who scores tries,” said Rams coach Lee Greenwood. “He has done well at York on loan and has held his own at Super League level when called upon by Hull KR.

“This move gives him the chance to get a full season of playing pretty much every week, something he hasn’t managed to do since coming out of academy rugby.”
