Dewsbury sign Leeds Rhinos youngster

Dewsbury Rams have confirmed the signing of promising Leeds Rhinos prop Sam Moorhouse from 2020.

The 18-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Rams after an impressive two seasons as part of the Rhinos’ academy side.

Moorhouse becomes Dewsbury’s third signing for next season, following Chris Annakin and Jon Magrin, and becomes the 13th member of their 2020 squad.

“Sam is one of a number of lads that have found themselves being too old for Academy rugby now that the age range has gone down to under 18s,” said Rams coach Lee Greenwood. “He has been recommended to me by staff at Leeds and from what I have seen and heard, Sam could have a bright future in the game.

“He has good footwork, is skilful and is a good size. He will need time to get used to men’s rugby but if he has the determination to succeed then he will.”
