Dewsbury Rams have announced the signing of hooker Reiss Butterworth for the 2021 campaign.

Butterworth signs from Huddersfield Giants, and has decided to join the Rams to get more first team rugby.

He has had a lot of Championship experience. Having come through the academy at Bradford Bulls, he played a handful of games for them in England’s second tier.

The 21 year old had a loan spell in 2018 at Batley Bulldogs before signing for  Huddersfield. Having made his Super League debut he then, he then went back out on loan to Batley in 2019.

Butterworth will take up the number 9 shirt for the Rams.

On signing the Butterworth, head coach Lee Greenwood said: “We’re delighted to bring Reiss to Dewsbury Rams. We were looking for a quality 9 to come in and when we knew of his availability we moved quickly.

“He ticks a lot of boxes for us -young, hungry with loads of potential but has already shown he can play at Championship level.

“There are elements to his game we can help him with but all the raw materials are there. He has been given the number 9 shirt which shows how much confidence we have in him to be a big player for us.”
