Dewsbury Rams hit with double blow straight after coach exit to Leeds Rhinos as one man heads to Hull

Dewsbury Rams have already lost assistant coach Tony Smith to the Leeds Rhinos this week but have been hit with a further blow, a double blow no less.

Harry Tyson-Wilson and Jacob Doyle both joined the club earlier on this year for the 2023 season but have decided to move on.

Head Coach Liam Finn said “It’s an understatement to say I’m disappointed to see two players leave the club. The silver lining is how soon it has come about so that we have time to assess alternative options. It’s all part of the journey and we didn’t expect the good news to be constant.

Jacob explained his reasons and as a club it was the best thing for him to take a break from rugby. We support that and we are here for him if and when required.

“Harry expressed a desire to play local rugby in Hull and as our only player travelling a significant distance, he soon realised how difficult it can be. This has helped us to confirm the decision to try build a squad who are as local as possible was the right one.

“I wish both players well and we’ll move on and keep moving forward together.”
