Dewsbury Rams continue rebuild with the signing of former Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers youngster Joseph Summers

Dewsbury are sadly headed to Betfred League 1 in 2023 after suffering relegation but have already begun preparing for next season with a number of signings and have now signed a promising young forward in Joe Summers.

Summers came through the ranks at Castleford Tigers where he won the Academy Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year in 2019 before joining Featherstone in 2021 where he was a Wembley winner in 2021.

He helped guide the Rovers to 1895 Cup Final success against York prior to switching to Hunslet.

It is from Hunslet that he makes the move over to Dewsbury ahead of 2023.

The 21-year-old is a local lad having played for Dewsbury Celtic and Shawcross Sharks and is now set to try and lead the Rams back to the Championship.

On joining the Rams, Summers told the Rams’ Website: “I’m really excited about joining the club, it’s my hometown club and I’m keen to get stuck in and get the club promoted to where we belong.”

Head Coach Liam Finn said “Joe is another local lad who we’re looking at as something a little bit different in our attacking game. He’s a natural rugby player who knows the game. It’s exciting to add another lad from around and local area and I know he’s really keen to show what he’s about.”

The club also confirmed that two more signings would be confirmed in the next two days.
