Dewsbury make permanent signing of Hull KR winger

Dewsbury Rams have confirmed the permanent signing of Hull KR winger will Oakes for 2021.

The 21-year-old was on loan at the Rams this year before the Championship season was voided due to the Covid-19 pandemic, playing six games and scoring two tries.

A three-time Scotland international, Oakes has been with Rovers for the past four years, scoring 10 tries in 24 appearances, whilst also having two successful loan spells with York City Knights.

“As a club we are really happy to bring Will in on a permanent deal,” said Dewsbury head coach Lee Greenwood. “He was enjoying his time with us and this was showing in his performances.

“He has a point to prove to people and himself next year after leaving Hull KR and that can only be good for us.

“Will has the potential to step back up to Super League and we are happy to help him try achieve this.”

Oakes will wear the Rams’ no.5 shirt in 2021.
