Details confirmed for the Rugby League World Cup quarter-finals

An intriguing men’s quarter final line up is in the offing at Rugby League World Cup 2021 following the completion of the group stages which has seen some fantastic matches take place across the country.

Shaun Wane’s England, so impressive in their group stage fixtures, in recording emphatic victories over Samoa, France and Greece, will take on Papua New Guinea at Wigan’s DW Stadium at 2.30pm on Saturday 5 November following the completion of England women’s second group match against Canada.

Mal Meninga’s Australian side will be up first in quarter final action on Friday evening with his side taking on Michael Cheika’s Lebanon side at Huddersfield.

Those two sides will be facing off for the opportunity to take on New Zealand or Fiji who meet on Saturday at the MKM Stadium in Hull, with the prospect of a mouth-watering semi-final clash between the two southern hemisphere giants a tantalising prospect at Elland Road on Friday 11 November.

Completing the quarter final line-up will be a thrilling clash between Tonga and Samoa, with the winner of that match set to meet either England or Papua New Guinea at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday 12 November.

Rugby League World Cup 2021 Chief Executive, Jon Dutton, said:

“Like everybody following the tournament, I couldn’t be more excited to now be reaching the business stage of the men’s competition, with the quarter final line up set to provide some thrilling matches.

“This is when the best teams in the world really start to click into gear, with the prospect of lifting the Paul Barrière Trophy, getting ever closer. The stakes are high and across the weekend we will witness unscripted drama, athleticism, skill and cultures both colliding and uniting.

“We’ve sold thousands of tickets already for these fixtures, but there are still plenty of affordable tickets available for people hoping to see the best players in the world play for a chance to make it to the semi-finals.”
