Leigh Leopards owner Derek Beaumont has taken to social media to label Hull FC ‘disrespectful to the competition’ after their latest Super League hiding. The Black and Whites were beaten 68-6 by Leeds Rhinos on Friday night at Headingley in what was just the latest heavy defeat they have been handed this season.
Alfie Edgell got four on the night, while James Bentley and Brodie Croft got braces and Harry Newman and Cameron Smith also touched down. Harvey Barron scored Hull’s only try on what was a night to forget for Simon Grix’s side.
It was Hull’s heaviest defeat of the season so far and the fifth time they have shipped more than 50 points in a single contest. As such, the Black and Whites enter the final two games of the season in 11th and having won just three games all season, there is a very real possibility that they could finish bottom of the Super League table.
They won’t be relegated though, with the club’s IMG ranking secured, ensuring they will be a Super League side next season no matter what happens over the next few games. That’s something that seems to stick in Beaumont’s teeth with the Leigh owner previously accusing Hull of putting their cue in the rack this season and being content in not being competitive.
The result at Leeds only seemed to reinforce that point to Beaumont, who felt the need to venture onto X to take another swipe at the club, insisting that they deserve to be relegated from the top flight.
“#HullFC score is a disgrace to the game take nothing from @leedsrhinos but you would not put that on any of the top 6 of the @RLChampionships to relegate @LondonBroncosRL ahead of you is an embarrassment! @TheRFL this needs sorting,” he tweeted.
He then added: “Ha ha when Hull FC block you so a post becomes a reply and can’t repost with them tagged! Lots of friends there that agree their club has acted disrespectful to the comp and deserve relegating if bottom! As owners we should sort this out!”
Hull FC and Leigh have done business this season with Tom Briscoe and Ed Chamberlain making the move to the MKM Stadium this season, with Briscoe joining permanently, while Chamberlain will make his loan permanent at the end of the year. However, John Asiata and Zak Hardaker will be joining them in East Yorkshire next season having signed for the club.

Maybe it’s because leigh have been previously relegated when they have not finished bottom. And so when they filled the spot Toronto left when they went bust. And they didn’t have opertuninity to build a super league team due to covid. And any teams voted against having no relegation.
