Derek Beaumont in brilliant charity move

No matter what you think of Derek Beaumont, he is an incredibly charitable man.

His work done via his AB Sundecks company and off his own back has raised thousands of pounds for charities in the past.

For example, the Leigh Centurions owner cycled from Leigh to Newcastle ahead of the 2021 Magic Weekend for a cancer charity, and now he has committed to buying all his staff at AB Sundecks and his Leigh players T-shirts designed by Martyn Clarke.

If that name doesn’t ring a bell then quickly search him on Twitter; Clarke is doing a whopping seven half Ironman challenges in seven days.

And, if you don’t know what an Ironman event is, prepare for some eye-watering statistics.

An Ironman challenge consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile run, raced in that order.

Of course, Clarke is doing half of that so it will consist of a 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile cycle and 13.1-mile run.

Clarke is going to do that seven times, consecutively, to raise money for Rob Burrow and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

The challenger has somehow got his name spread around the world with the likes of Great Britain swimmer Hector Pardoe taking part in the event as well as 90 others getting involved.
