Derek Beaumont hits out at Leigh’s critics as he celebrates being in play-off spots

A lot of criticism came the way of Leigh Leopards and especially their owner Derek Beaumont after their rebrand.

Many claimed their kit, which was redesigned with more colour added, was the worst in Super League.

Meanwhile, people claimed the animal on the front of it wasn’t a leopard but in fact a jaguar.

Overall, plenty slammed the rebrand whilst some tipped them for relegation in 2023.

However, they have win six of their opening 11 games and are well and truly in the play-off mix.

Now owner Beaumont has hit out all those critics after the Leopards have shocked so many this season.

He said:

“‘It’s a jaguar not a leopard!’ ‘You’re leppers and won’t win a game in SL.’ ‘You’ll definitely get relegated!’ ‘Bring nothing to Super League!’ ‘Worst kit ever!’ ‘Embarrassing rebrand!'” as he referenced all the critics Leigh had.

He then thanked them for their motivation:

“I say thanks for having an opinion, it makes us relevant and you have contributed to our growth and should be proud of our top 6th place.”

Lastly he said any further negative comments would further motivate them:

“Never been prouder of a group! Absolute class from top to bottom and I ain’t even gonna predict what we will achieve but look forward to a bit more motivation from the replies.”
