Derek Beaumont highlights the lack of coverage Leigh Leopards have had

Derek Beaumont has been impressed by his Leigh Leopards side’s performances in 2023 so far.

Asked if he was surprised, Beaumont underlined that he wasn’t as he noted the lack of coverage they’ve had.

Speaking on BBC Radio Manchester, he said: “No, no, I would have thought the lads were where we kind of aspired to be, to be honest with you. You know, we’ve not had a lot of coverage, but it’s been seeking us.

“We’re just kind of getting on with our business and we knew it was a new team, we knew we had 13 new players and we knew we needed to gel so it could have gone differently.

“Lammy seems to have got them playing well together early and they’ve grown week on week on week. I think they sit rightfully where they do.

“But we’re spending the cap and you look across the quality of players that are in there and what they’ve done in and around the game.”

Leigh take on Wakefield Trinity today at the Magic Weekend knowing a win will further cement their play-off ambitions in 2023.

They are certainly a club on the up.
