Beaumont seemingly claims Leigh Leopards have made another big signing

Leigh Leopards showed Super League what they can do in 2023 as they defeated Leeds Rhinos today thanks to a last minute Zak Hardaker try to win 14-12.

The Leopards are expected to do well after some big signings, such as Hardaker, and when speaking about his goals after the game, coach Adrian Lam revealed the club could make more signings:

“We’ve talked about not talking about it. That said, we feel if we get our game right we can compete and we want to finish as high as we can.

“I can’t tell you my goals. We want to perform to our abilities and reach goals that we set ourselves.

“I think we can still buy two or three players as the season goes on but we will let the first six weeks unfold and keep adding to the squad.”

After the result, owner Derek Beaumont hinted that they had pulled off a major new signing, what he called “the catch of the night.”

He took to Twitter to say:

“Get in there! Now those are the phone calls I like taking from Chezzy [Director of Rugby Chris Chester]! Seems he got the catch of the night last night while I was messing about with lots of tiddlers on my hook! If Carlsberg did Saturdays.”

Now Leeds Live are reporting that former Leeds Rhinos man Ava Seumanufagai is the man in question.
