Decision on World Cup made – but there could be one major absentee

The Rugby League World Cup is set to go ahead, but Australia may not be present.

That’s according to the Daily Telegraph who have reported that, although World Cup organisers have announced the competition will occur as planned at the end of 2021, NRL clubs may not release their players to travel.

Organisers had been working quickly behind the scenes in order to stem the concerns of NRL clubs, with Australia reluctant to sign the participation agreement.

Official confirmation is expected tomorrow.
