David Fifita points finger at haters in defiant post

When Wakefield Trinity announced their squad numbers this afternoon, there was a major absence in the first-team.
Number 8, surprisingly, went to Eddie Battye – who had joined the club first on-loan in 2020 and then permanently in 2021 – with Wakefield Trinity enforcer David Fifita missing.
In fact, the club wound down all of the squad to new signing and number 30 Corey Hall from Leeds Rhinos, with no mention whatsoever of Fifita.
That was, of course, until the ‘Big Bopper’ was handed the number 35 – the digit that the 32-year-old was given when he first joined the West Yorkshire side midway through 2016 following his release from the Cronulla Sharks.
Fifita had recently told BBC Radio Leeds that he was unsure of his future past the 2022 Super League season, despite hoping to stay.
“If my legs are still going and my wife is happy to stay, then I will keep pushing,” he told BBC Radio Leeds.
“If she is feeling homesick – because right now we haven’t been home for two years and by the end of next season it will be three years.
“So it is going to be tough getting through this season together.”
Fifita, however, appeared determined and defiant as he pointed to recent claims that he was finished in the UK.
