David Fifita latest

Wakefield Trinity forward David Fifita has touched down back in his native Australia after taking a flight home at the end of the 2021 Super League season.

Fifita has been one of Wakefield’s most consistent performers in recent seasons, often excelling under Chris Chester – who himself lost his job towards the back end of 2021.

The Wakefield forward had forged a good relationship with Chester over the years and he was bitterly disappointed about the fact that he would no longer be at the club.

“Personally it hurt me a lot, I came here because of him and he let me do what I want and let my game go to another level, Fifita told the Rugby League Review Podcast.

“It really hurt me, it felt crap because he did have an extra year there to sign.”

Fifita suffered towards the end of the season, with his brother Andrew sustaining a fractured larynx and was reportedly a minute from dying, but continued to play on in a Trinity shirt in a bid to help his side.
