David Fifita explains why he hasn’t left Wakefield Trinity

David Fifita has posted an update on his social media as he gets ready to return for Wakefield Trinity in pre-season.

Fifita has spent time in Australia with his family and especially his brother Andrew who suffered a fractured larynx earlier in the year.

Andrew was put into an induced coma as the rest of his family rallied around, whilst David still went on to play a game of rugby league despite being given the news.

Fifita is also keen to repay the faith shown in him by the Trinity fans, knowing that their struggle and consistent support does not go unnoticed.

“They are part of the reason why I didn’t want to leave,” Fifita told the Rugby League Review podcast.

“I’m trying to give something back to the club whether it’s a Challenge Cup trophy – we’ve been in the top five twice and missed out a few times.

“I just want to play in big games for them and make a big name for myself at the club.”

Trinity resurfaced from the ashes towards the back end of the 2021 season, winning five from their remaining seven games under interim boss Willie Poching before he was handed the reins on a permanent basis.
